This training will certify you as a qualified instructor, as defined in point number two of Climb On Safely. Becoming a Climbing Level II Instructor will allow you to bring your troop to the climbing tower at Camp Friedlander as well as assist with other council events at the tower. Training will be conducted following the guidelines of Climb On Safely, Topping Out, and the BSA National Standards. Areas of climbing and rappelling will be covered.
Check-in on both dates will begin at 6:00 pm with classes starting at 7:00 pm. Wednesday night we will cover rope care, knots, webbing, and equipment. The weekend session will cover climbing and rappelling activities, rigging, rescue, and facilitation. The course will include many hours of hands on training. Attendance at both sessions is required, so please mark your calendars accordingly. Training cards will be issued after successfully demonstrating your skills at a post training-weekend event.
