Wood Badge for the 21st Century is designed to provide you with twelve skills such as communication, decision making, team building, conflict management, self-assessment, and leveraging diversity. Each of these skills are designed to improve one’s success in delivering the values, vision, and mission of the scouting program to your unit.
Wood Badge for the 21st Century stands ready to provide leadership tools for scouting, personal and professional lives, and for America by building on the past, understanding the present, and looking toward the future.
st century is the premier leadership development course for the BSA. Wood Badge consists of two, 3-day weekends packed with fun, fellowship, and inspiration, along with top of the line training. The course is both multimedia presentations and practical applications, culminating in a challenging outdoor experience.
Everyone is welcome to attend Wood Badge. This course is designed to improve your leadership tools, whether you are a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Venturing, District, or Council Leader.
Who May Attend Wood Badge?
•Be a registered Adult Leader in the Boy Scouts of America
•Have Completed the Basic Training for you Primary Scouting Position. That generally includes:
•Youth Protection Training
•Position Specific Training
•This is Scouting (recommended but not required)
•Outdoor Leadership Skills (recommended for all but required for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches, and if Venturing Crew has an outdoor theme - Venturing Advisors and Associate Advisors are also required to complete Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills)
•Individuals who have completed Wood Badge before 2001 are also encouraged to attend this new course.
Cost?
•Fees for the course are $220 ($275 if registering less than 30 days prior to the course)
•Pre-registration is required. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required with the application. Financial help is available for those in need of assistance.
•The course fee includes all meals, materials and recognition items.
